Eating in Hong Kong – Dinner @ Super Star Seafood Restaurant, Tsim Sha Tsui

Dinner @ Super Star Seafood Restaurant, Tsim Sha Tsui

On one of my May 2018 trips to HK, I stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Tsim Sha Tsui. I was on my own and decided to have dinner at Super Star Seafood Restaurant 鸿星海鲜酒家 as I wanted to buy their crispy whitebait snack. The restaurant is within walking distance for the hotel.

Super Star is a Chinese restaurant specializing in stone fish. They serve a crispy whitebait snack (HKD4) with your tea. And I came here for this whitebait. I snacked on it before my food was served. I loved this. It was very addictive.

I decided to have roast pigeon (HKD95). I love roast pigeon and it is one of the dishes that I like to eat whenever I am in HK. It taste like roast chicken. But as it is much smaller in size, it is very much more crispy when roasted compared to chicken.

This restaurant specializes in stone fish. So I decided to order a stone fish soup with wonton (HKD48). The soup was thick and very flavorful. Awesome! I was afraid that the soup will be fishy and it was not. This is a must try here.

I decided to go all protein and no vegetable as the vegetable dishes were all quite large in serving. So I added a last dish of a single crab cake (HKD75) where the crab meat is stuffed into the crab shell and deep fried. It was nice but nothing exceptional. I did not have any white rice during this meal.

Overall a very good and satisfying meal. Food was delicious.

I did not leave empty handed, and bought some packs of the white bait snacks home. They have the takeaway packs in many different flavours -seaweed, curry, wasabi and original. I decided to just get the original flavour. Each packet cost HKD17. And of course I did not just buy one!
