Hong Kong Hotels – Grand Hyatt Hong Kong

Grand Hyatt Hong Kong

I made several trips to HK in May and June in 2018. During the trip in June, I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong in Wan Chai.

Hyatt is one of my favorite hotel chain but in HK, while I have stayed at Hyatt Regency in Tsim Sha Tsui, I have never stayed at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. Since my meetings on this trip were on Hong Kong side and Shangri-La was full, I decided to try Grand Hyatt Hong Kong which is next to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The Room

I had a king room with a bay view. Room was in Grand Hyatt’s typical contemporary style.

There was a glass panel separating the bedroom and bathroom. A blind can be lowered for privacy.

Bathroom was spacious and in off white colour scheme. A clean cut look. There was a separate bathtub and shower cubicle.

Like the Hyatt Regency TST, the Grand Hyatt HK had the Handy phone too. You can bring this Handy phone out of the hotel and enjoy free local calls and international calls to selected countries. There is also data service on the Handy phone.

There was also a welcome fruit basket in the room. This is always a pleasant gesture from the hotel.

Room Service Breakfast

As I needed to make an early start, I decided to order room service for breakfast instead of going to the breakfast restaurant. I ordered the buttermilk pancakes with berries (HKD180) and a glass of watermelon juice (HKD85). The pancakes were fluffy and nice.

I did not order a coffee as there was a Nespresso machine with capsules provided in the room. So I made my own black coffee.

Overall another pleasant stay at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong in terms of room quality and service.

However, I didn’t like the location of the hotel. It is somehow in the middle of nowhere. It is a good place to stay if you are attending an event at the neighbour HK convention centre. Otherwise, it is not convenient to the MTR or shopping like the hotels at Pacific Place.
