Eating in Singapore – Theme Dining @ Gudetama Cafe

Theme Dining @ Gudetama Cafe

DD is a Gudetama fan. Frankly I don’t understand what is so cute about an egg. But oh well, she likes it. So when she found out that there is a Gudetama cafe in Singapore, she suggested going there for a meal. DH and the boys just rolled their eyes. We had not made any effort to go anytime.

Then it happens that we went to the IT show at Suntec to get a new MacBook for DS1 for use in Uni. Yes, it has been 2 years since DS1 helped me set up this blog before he went into Army. How he has completed his National Service and finally going to Uni. Anyway, back to Gudetama Cafe. Since we were in Suntec for the IT fair, and were deciding where to have lunch, we finally indulged DD and went to Gudetama Cafe which was also in Suntec.

I must say that the deco in the restaurant was bright and cheery and brings out the happy mood in diners. Even the ceiling had Gudetama. I was not a Gudetama fan, but I had to agree that the restaurant deco was cute. I had made reservation and was glad I did because the restaurant was full and the waitress looked so harassed that I felt sorry for her.

At the entrance of the restaurant was a shelf of Gudetama themed cakes. Which were so pretty!

We were shown to a booth which was cosy and cute. There were 2 Gudetama cushions.

Now the food. DH had a Set Bo Chap (SGD32.90) which came with an appetisier, Sakura Sakanaage (Fish fingers coated in better bad deep fried), main course, Gekuna Teriyaki Don, dessert, Soft Serve with Homemade Cookie in the shape of Gudetama, and a hot Americano.

I wanted something light. So I went for “Can you be more Active?” (SGD20), which was really a Caesar salad with chicken.

DS1 had the “Are you busy” burger (SGD27.50). It was a big burger with double beef patties, sunny side up and bacon. DS1 does not take cheese and so requested no cheese for his burger.

DD had the “Eggcited” Cajun Chicken with Waffles (SGD23.90) It was buttermilk waffles with grilled chicken and egg, served with maple syrup and and whipped cream by the side.

For dessert, DH had his soft serve that came with his set meal, DD had the Gude Pudding (SGD16.90) which was a custard pudding while I had the Mash-Cha (SGD11.90), a matcha smoothie with peppers sticks, popcorn and marshmallows. Dessert was cute and yummy!

Overall it was a good meal and the Gudetama theme was so cute. It was all over the restaurant, and the food. Hard not to like it even if it is just a silly egg. I must say, for the themed restaurant, the food is good. Better than your average theme restaurant. Total bill after tax and service charge was SGD156.66. Not expensive for a themed restaurant and definitely cheaper than the DC Comics Super Hero Cafe.

I’ll probably go into a hiatus for a while after this post. I’m just going to enjoy our family vacation in North Island, New Zealand. Will share the experiences of our trip when I get back!
